Christmas 2012

Christmas 2012

Christmas Blessings to All!

It has been a year of blessings for the Frost family.  As I write this letter, we have returned from a great weekend in NYC where we were the guests of Seafarers and International House, a ministry of the ELCA.  They honored my father who was the director there from 1984 to 1993, naming their newly remodeled second floor the Rev. J. Gordon Swanson Center.  Joy and Dan, John, Lee and Harry, Paul and Kristin as well as my mother were there for the festivities.  We had a chance to do some sightseeing and Christmas shopping too.  This was our second trip to NYC this year as Paul and I had also been in February where we had another Swanson family reunion with my siblings and my mother.

Our big change this year was the selling of our house in Oak Park.  With both kids gone it was time to downsize.  We put our house on the market June 8th and were fortunate to have a contract August 18th. After that it was a whirlwind of activity as we looked for a place to live, packed our belongings and organized our move on September 18th and closed on September 28th.  We are renting a townhouse in Oak Park while we decide where we would like to be and what we want to buy.  At this time, something like a condo or townhouse is attractive.  Our current address is 120 Chicago Avenue, Apt. A, Oak Park, IL  60302.  You can still reach us by email at gsfrost@comcast.net or pefrost@comcast.net.

Our son, John and his fiancée, Sasha, became homeowners this summer, buying a two flat in Forest Park, the neighboring town.   They have become landlords, have started some home improvement projects and are planning their wedding to be held June 2013.  John is in his second and final year of school at Tribeca Flashpoint and Sasha teaches Mandarin Chinese in the Chicago school system.  Kristin started working for Groupon in April in their customer service dept. - her first fulltime job.  She moved into Chicago with her boyfriend, Jason, in June.  She has started playing ice hockey in a women’s league and is enjoying it.  We are fortunate that we see both kids quite frequently.

Paul continues to work for Mayer Brown LLP, and Gail still works in the library at Beye School.   We both enjoy using our IPads and computers – Paul for genealogy and surfing the Internet, Gail for keeping track of daily activities, email and blogging.  We enjoyed a week on Cape Cod with my mother in August.  We also visited Paul’s mother in Rock Island as well as his brother and family a couple of times this year.  Marilyn broke her hip this summer and spent several weeks in rehab – but she is happy to be home again.

Our greetings to each of you in this holiday season!

Peace,
Gail and Paul
