Catching Up!

It has been a long time since I have added anything to this blog. It’s not like I have nothing to add - I just haven’t written anything. It’s not like we haven’t been anywhere - because we have taken several trips. I’ve had a few health issues - but nothing to keep me from writing. I just need to motivate myself to sit and write. Perhaps I should make that a goal of mine - to write more - especially more than just a daily diary.

Anyway, here goes. We did have a nice trip to Williamsburg, VA in December, 2021. Enjoyed seeing all of the Christmas wreaths and decorations and partaking in some of the holiday events there. Christmas we spent at home - a little low key - it was hard to find a time when everyone could get together with schedules, other family, etc. But we managed to have a Christmas Eve lunch here and exchanged gifts.

Did not venture out too much in January and February. We did celebrate all February birthdays with lunch at Maggiano’s - lots of food (and leftovers) and a good time to be together. I had hernia surgery in February so was on a restrictive diet for two weeks but the surgery went well and I’m doing fine.  Had some Mohs Surgery done on my nose in April which also went well.

We visited my mother in March for a few days. Stopped in Seneca Falls on the way and explored the Women’s Rights National Historical Park. Enjoyed being on the Cape without too many tourists. We did find some restaurants that were open as well so enjoyed eating out as well as visiting some of the National seashore. April saw us in Villa Rica, GA for a few days, then Lake Lure, NC and finally Sevierville, TN. Nice to get away, see new things and enjoy spring like days when it is still a little chilly at home.

Home for the month of May - enjoyed taking Xochitl to parks and watching her learn to play t-ball. John and Sasha bought a house in Oak Park though it is not ready to move into yet. They sold their house in Beverly and have moved into an apartment in Oak Park. Nice to have them closer and to see them more often. Celebrated Xochitl's 4th birthday with dinner at the restaurant John works at which was fun and also with family and friends.

Celebrated my niece, Anna’s wedding in June with the whole family. A wonderful time for the family to be together. So glad my mom could come for the visit was well. Enjoyed having the kids here for my birthday and Father’s Day celebrations. Took an unexpected trip to the Cape a few days later. My mother had emergency gall bladder surgery so went to be with her for a week. She is doing fine and we were able to get out and do a few things while we were there - including shopping and dining out.

Home again for the month of July. Spent an afternoon at Brookfield Zoo and are looking forward to a few other events this month. That about sums it up!
