A Fall Interlude

Had a great time in North Carolina - visiting vineyards, historic sites and going to a wedding!  The weather was wonderful - fall colors were beautiful.  The occasion for our trip was the wedding of Steve and Sandi Winter's daughter, Stacey in Greensboro, North Carolina.  We decided to make a little mini-vacation and certainly enjoyed ourselves.  We flew into Charlotte, rented a car and explored a bit of the state.   Drove from Charlotte to Lexington where we stopped at Childress Vineyards.  Did some wine tasting and had a delicious lunch in the Bistro overlooking the vineyards.

Then we drove to Winston-Salem where we stopped at Old Salem, originally a Moravian settlement.  Wandered around the village, taking pictures, going into some shops and a bakery.  There were  school groups there as well as others enjoying the beautiful afternoon.

Our next stop for the weekend was Greensboro where the sit in at the Woolworth lunch counter happened in February, 1960.  Another beautiful day as we visited the civil rights museum which is housed in the old Woolworth store and wandered around downtown Greensboro.  The late afternoon was the reason for the weekend - the wedding of Stacey Winter and Paul Matrafailo.  Stacey is the 3rd daughter of Steve Winter, Paul's high school friend.  We enjoyed the wedding and reception very much.

Good to see long time friends again and catch up.
