End of Summer

Well, what a way to end the summer.  Had some pain in my wrist - went to the doctor right away - since I had a feeling it was carpal tunnel syndrome.  Turns out, yes, that was it.  So a brace for my left hand - to be worn 24/7 for the most part for a few weeks - and then at least at night after that.  I have been good about wearing the brace and my hand feels much better.  Still wearing the brace at night - will continue to do that for a while.

The Sunday before school started was a hot Sunday - we had an outdoor worship service and a picnic outside afterwards.  It was a nice day - but hot.  Came home and sat in the coolness.  Monday morning - the first day of school - I just did not feel well.  I was subbing for Richard though - who had been sick for the past week - so made it in to school.  At first I thought I had the flu - and not the 24 hour kind - I just couldn't seem to shake whatever it was I had.  I got through the days - barely - getting the minimum amount of work done, coming home to lay down and not do anything else.  By Friday, I still wasn't feeling well and decided it was time to go to the immediate care facility.  Paul took me when he got home - and it turns out I have community-acquired pneumonia.  Had a chest xray to confirm.  Started taking medicine and really started feeling better - though not 100%.   Feeling better every day now - the medicine and cough syrup are helping - plus I'm still trying to take it easy.  I have to say though that I have not been that sick in a long time.  I actually stayed home from work on Thursday - I could barely move.

School has now started - we are almost done with the second week.  So far, so good.  The weather has been very summer like - warmer than it has been, of course, but not to bad.  The library is slowly getting back to normal, most of the new furnishings are in - still need to label bookcases and remove things that shouldn't be there any more.  The reaction of people to the new color scheme and design has been interesting - not sure anyone really loves it.  Some of the things they did are nice and are positive changes, other things I might have done differently.

Getting ready to start church activities for fall.  I am going to try team-teaching the 5th & 6th grade class.  We'll see how that goes.  Missed the first choir rehearsal since I wasn't feeling up to it. Looking forward to fall - a change in season and some different things coming up.
